Here is what a job looks like. The van parks close to the door and we run a hose from the truck-mounted unit, which heats the water and does the extraction from outside the house, so the noise and the humidity stay out of your rooms. We walk the carpet with you first and note the traffic lanes, the doorways, the spots you already tried to clean yourself. Then we vacuum, because dry soil comes out dry and no amount of hot water fixes grit left in the pile. Next comes the pre-spray, matched to the fiber and the soil, left to dwell for a few minutes. Then agitation with a groomer or a rotary brush to break the soil loose from the yarn. Then the extraction pass, slow, overlapping, with dry strokes after the wet ones to pull water back out. Air movers go down last on heavy areas and in rooms that do not get much airflow. Hot water extraction is the method for most wall-to-wall carpet and it is what we recommend by default. Low-moisture encapsulation is the right call for commercial glue-down, for a Berber that mats easily, or when a unit has to be walked through the same afternoon. If a stain is dye damage, bleach, or an old set-in that has already been scrubbed with the wrong product, we say so before we start rather than take your money and hand you the same spot back. The calls we get most in Sun Valley are turnover and move-out cleans, pet urine, and traffic lanes that have gone grey. The Los Angeles basin and San Fernando Valley is a dry-soil region, and dust rather than mud is the primary carpet load. Decomposed granite, alluvial sand and fine road dust blow off hillsides, washes and unpaved yards. That grit grinds into the pile, dulling and greying traffic lanes long before staining becomes obvious. That is why a carpet can look worn out when it is just full of sand. Low humidity is an advantage for drying, and carpet cleaned in Valley heat can be dry in a few hours with airflow, though coastal cities see night and morning marine layer that slows drying and holds musty odor in closed apartments. Wildfire and Santa Ana season deposits smoke particulate and ash that settles in carpet and re-releases odor, usually noticed first when the heat comes on. There is heavy year-round pollen from olive, ash, sycamore, oak and ornamental plantings. The high rental share across the metro means turnover cleans, pet urine in units with lax pet policies, and landlord-driven move-out cleaning are a large share of our work, and we are used to working around lease dates and key handoffs.

Housing here splits into a few eras and each one behaves differently. The 1920s-30s Spanish and Craftsman homes have oak floors and area rugs, which we treat differently than wall-to-wall. The 1950s-70s tracts have wall-to-wall over slab, and that carpet is often original or decades old and matted in halls and doorways. Post-1990 builds run to low-pile Berber and stain-resist nylon, which clean up well but show wicking if over-wet. We work on Shaw, Mohawk, Karastan, Stainmaster, Anderson Tuftex and Masland, and we set the water temperature and chemistry to the fiber rather than running everything the same way. Where seams have split, where a pet has chewed an edge, or where a burn or tear has left a hole, cleaning is not the answer and we will point you to carpet repair instead.
